Alex Mantanona spent half of 2025 off of Highway 1, helping to lead the clean-up team that was navigating the aftermath of the devastating Palisades Fire which burned over 20,000 acres across Southern California. Alex split his time doing field surveys and hazard assessments, performing quality control and lab coordination for asbestos remediation, and eventually became part of the planning team overseeing the entire operation. With increasing climate change driven wildfires occurring year after year, Alex will explore how climate disasters require us to invest in resilience and mitigation strategies as we rebuild. Hear his stories from the frontlines of the fire clean-up as we envision a brighter future!
